Lyrics
Off the screens and into the woods
Nature brings magic like no phone app could
Forts and fireflies, frogs and fresh air
Caves and cucumbers, cattails no cares
Leaves and leaping, look under logs
Worms and wonderlands, wet waterdogs
Off the screens and into the woods
Nature brings magic like no phone app could
Birds and bonfires, bamboo and birch bark
Petals and plucking, picnics in the park
Sticks and snowballs, singing from swings
Rocks and relaxing, reed grass wrapped rings
Off the screens and into the woods
Nature brings magic like no phone app could
Into the woods
Into the woods
Dew and dandelions, dancing in dirt
Shimmering stars, strawb’rry stained shirt
Trails and tree forts, lose track of time
Canoes and cocoons, cliffs you can climb
Off the screens and into the woods
Nature brings magic like no phone app could

Parents can lead by example!
Let’s work together to end the racial and economic nature gap, where communities of color are three times more likely than white communities to live nature deprived places. Let’s advocate for safe places for Black kids to play, for equitable conservation efforts, for more consultation with low income communities of color about public spaces, and for more education and outreach programs. Here’s one resource from REI Co-op.
